Wax in styrene (often called surfacing agent) is paraffin wax dissolved into Styrene. It is added to polyester or vinyl ester resins and gelcoats to allow the exposed surface to cure to a hard, tack-free finish by blocking oxygen from interfering with the curing process
Usually it is 5% of this product mixed into Lam resin = makes what we call "filler resin" or "Hot coat Resin" which make it easy to sand compared to the tackyness of lamination resin
Don't want to mix the resin yourself? Then we suggest that you buy Lam resin and filler resin when glassing a surfboard.
